Embedded Systems Engineer
Experience : 0-2+ years
Location : Bangalore
Department : Embedded Systems / R&D
Role Overview
We are looking for an Embedded Systems Engineer - L1 to work on embedded firmware development, hardware
bring-up, sensor integration, and board-level validation. The role requires hands-on involvement in firmware
development, peripheral integration, hardware debugging, and validation of embedded products.
The engineer will work on existing products based on Embedded C, bare-metal firmware, Nordic nRF SDK, and
Segger Embedded Studio, as well as newer platforms using Nordic nRF54-series MCUs, Zephyr RTOS, and VS
Code.
Key Responsibilities
•Develop, debug, and maintain embedded firmware for Nordic Semiconductor MCUs such as nRF52 and nRF54
series.
•Work on firmware development using Embedded C, bare-metal programming, and Zephyr RTOS.
•Support hardware bring-up for new boards, prototypes, and product revisions.
•Integrate and validate sensors such as motion sensors, orientation sensors, IMUs, and other peripheral devices.
•Work with interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO, ADC, PWM, timers, and interrupts.
•Develop and debug BLE-based embedded applications, including advertising, connection handling, services,
characteristics, notifications, and data exchange.
•Read and understand datasheets, reference manuals, application notes, and peripheral documentation.
•Review schematics to understand circuit behavior, validate connections, and assist in PCB-level debugging.
•Use debugging and validation tools such as J-Link debugger, Segger Embedded Studio, VS Code, oscilloscope,
logic analyzer, and multimeter.
•Collaborate with hardware, firmware, mobile app, QA, and product teams during development and testing.
•Maintain existing firmware and support migration or improvement of legacy embedded products.
•Document firmware behavior, test results, known issues, and debugging observations clearly.
Required Skills
•Strong fundamentals in Embedded C and microcontroller-based firmware development.
•Understanding of MCU peripherals such as GPIO, timers, interrupts, ADC, PWM, I2C, SPI, and UART.
•Intermediate understanding of BLE behavior, including advertising, scanning, connections, GATT services,
characteristics, notifications, and data transfer.
•Ability to read datasheets, reference manuals, and application notes to understand peripheral and sensor
behavior.
•Basic understanding of schematics and ability to trace hardware connections for firmware bring-up and
debugging.
•Hands-on interest in board bring-up, sensor integration, and firmware-hardware validation.
•Familiarity with debugging tools such as J-Link, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, and multimeter.
•Good analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
•Clear communication skills with the ability to document observations, issues, and test results.
•Ownership mindset and willingness to work across both legacy bare-metal firmware and modern RTOS-based
platforms.
Good to Have
•Exposure to Nordic MCUs such as nRF52 or nRF54 series.
•Experience with Nordic nRF SDK, nRF Connect SDK, or Zephyr RTOS.
•Familiarity with Segger Embedded Studio, VS Code, or other embedded IDEs.
•Hands-on experience with BLE-based projects or connected embedded devices.
•Exposure to development boards or platforms such as ESP32, STM32, Raspberry Pi, Arduino, or similar boards.
•Experience working with motion sensors, orientation sensors, IMUs, environmental sensors, or other external
peripherals.
•Basic understanding of RTOS concepts such as tasks, threads, queues, timers, and synchronization.
•Knowledge of Git or any version control system.
•Academic, internship, or personal project experience involving microcontrollers, sensors, BLE, or hardware
debugging.
Educational Qualification
•B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, Electronics & Communication, Instrumentation, Embedded
Systems, or a related field.
•Diploma candidates with strong practical embedded systems experience may also be considered.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is curious about embedded systems, comfortable working close to hardware, and able to
read datasheets, debug firmware, validate peripherals, and understand how firmware interacts with the board.
The candidate should have a learning mindset, clear communication, and a practical approach to solving
embedded system issues.
Note
PCB design experience is not required. However, the candidate should be able to read schematics, understand
hardware connections, and support PCB validation and debugging.
